Are the needles painful?

The comment I hear most often is: "I feel something ,but it doesn't feel like a pin-prick.." This alone is often enough to reassure a new visitor to Acupuncture! The needles are inserted, or sometimes held, on key points on the body to facilitate the flow of the body's vital energy along pathways called "meridians". The feeling you most begin to associate the needles with is "relaxation".

What does Acupuncture treat?

The World Health Organization has deemed Acupuncture very effective in treating: Pain in Back, shoulders, neck, knee; facial pain and paralysis; allergic rhinitus; acute and chronic gastritis, Depression, Sciatica, sprains, headaches, post stroke syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis; Hypertension; induction of labor; Dysmenorrhea, Morning sickness, post operative pain, and adverse reactions to radiation and chemotherapy.

What can I expect from my first session?

Plan to stay from 90 minites to 2 hours your first visit. Essential paperwork is done,then we talk about your reasons for seeking my services. Any and all questions are welcome,and your privacy is protected. Comfortable clothing is suggested, but I can drape you so you are comfortable on the treatment table.

I then will listen to your forearm pulses, examine your abdomen ,limbs and tongue,and ask related questions. Appropriate insertion and non-insertion needling methods will be used. Care is taken to insure your comfort and relaxation. We also decide together if you would like an herbal formula, and preparations for that are made during your visit, at no additional charge.
